As Chief Lending Officer, Kevin Kubat will oversee the Entrepreneur Fund’s lending strategy, business development efforts, partner relationships, and sustainable growth initiatives.

The Entrepreneur Fund (EFund) is pleased to announce the addition of Kevin Kubat as Chief Lending Officer, strengthening the organization’s executive leadership team as it continues to expand access to capital and support entrepreneurs across the region.
In his new role, Kubat will oversee EFund’s lending strategy, business development efforts, partner relationships, and sustainable growth initiatives. He will also work closely with banks, credit unions, economic development organizations, and other community partners to expand financing opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses throughout the region.
“Kevin brings a wealth of lending and management experience to the organization,” said Shawn Wellnitz, CEO of the Entrepreneur Fund. “As we continue to expand our impact across the region, Kevin's leadership will help strengthen our ability to provide tailored lending solutions that meet entrepreneurs where they are and support long-term business success.”
Kubat’s experience spans lending, operations, business development, and strategic partnerships. His addition to the leadership team will help EFund continue growing its lending capacity while remaining focused on its mission of ensuring capital reaches businesses and communities that have historically faced barriers to accessing it.
Kubat moved to Minnesota’s Iron Range in 2015 and began his lending career shortly thereafter at Northern State Bank in Aurora. He later held vice president positions with NorthRidge Community Credit Union in Virginia, Minnesota, and Superior Choice Credit Union in Superior, Wisconsin. Most recently, he served as Chief Lending Officer at Great River Federal Credit Union in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
“EFund’s mission of serving the underserved directly connects with the work I’ve been part of throughout my career,” said Kubat. “Credit unions share a similar philosophy, and I see EFund’s mission as closely aligned with my own values and beliefs.”
Before entering the financial services industry, Kubat spent six years as a teacher and swim coach. Those experiences continue to influence his leadership style, which emphasizes collaboration, development, and helping others succeed.
A graduate of Saint John’s University, Kubat said he’s excited to return to the communities where his kids get to grow up and to make an impact close to home.
