Small businesses are the heart of rural communities, creating jobs, inspiring innovation, and fueling local pride. They are essential to the long-term success of their communities. In Washburn, WI, entrepreneurs like Amy and Jared Trimbo are proof of how one idea — with the right support — can spark a wave of entrepreneurial energy that strengthens an entire community.
From Personal Need to Community Asset: The Origin of AdventureUs
For Amy Trimbo, it all started with a simple need: finding warm, functional clothes for her kids to wear during the harsh northern Wisconsin winters. Out of that personal challenge, AdventureUs was born—a sewing studio and retail store that sells her signature Snow Sleeves among other handcrafted gifts.
Like many entrepreneurs, Amy faced self-doubt in the beginning.
“It’s so easy to feel self-conscious or like you're not going to make it. You know, why is my idea good enough?” she said. “EFund really knew the struggles of a small business and could see the vision.”
The Entrepreneur Fund: A Catalyst for Small Business Success
The Entrepreneur Fund (EFund) partners with small business owners like Amy across central and northeastern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin (see our service region). Through personalized advising, flexible lending, and genuine encouragement, EFund empowers small business owners to overcome obstacles and transform their business growth.

The Ripple Effect: Full Keel Coffee Emerges
Amy’s success sparked something even greater. As AdventureUs grew, it inspired her husband, Jared, to pursue his entrepreneurial dream — launching Full Keel Coffee, a local coffee roaster that fills a niche and adds to Washburn’s growing economy.
“I always had a passion for coffee roasting, and I knew there was a niche here available to fill that,” said Jared Trimbo, who, too, received the financial and advising support he needed from EFund to take the leap.

Strengthening Community Through Entrepreneurship
The Trimbo’s story demonstrates the true power of entrepreneurship — when one idea is nurtured, it creates momentum. Families, neighborhoods, and entire communities benefit.
“Having organizations like EFund provide resources to our small businesses is a pivotal moment for many of them,” said Melissa Martinez, Director of the Washburn Area Chamber of Commerce.
When we invest in one business owner, we’re investing in the future of an entire community. And EFund is here to walk alongside entrepreneurs every step of the way — because when one succeeds, we all succeed.
